What is a Home Warranty?
A Home Warranty, such as the type offered through American Home Shield, is a standalone service contract for single family homes under 10,000 square feet. It covers common appliances and home systems such as well pumps, washers & dryers, ovens, refrigerators, water heaters, garbage disposals, and dishwashers.
The Home Warranty covers normal wear and tear. When a covered item breaks, American Home Shield assigns a local repair professional from their network of approved contractors. The annual cost depends on the systems covered, but the contract is a one year term that is paid to American Home Shield annually or monthly.
